Baker of the week – Clara the Biscuite Queen
Congratulations Clara the Biscuite Queen, you are our Baker of the Week!
Thank you for answering our questions for the Cotswold Flour Baking Club!
We absolutely love watching your biscuit decorating videos, they are so mesmerising! Have you always had a love for baking and decorating biscuits, & how did you first get into it?
I’ve always been very creative and in 2013 I saw the opportunity to combine sweet treats and my love for designing.
I’ve learned everything about Biscuit Decoration online from courses from fellow bakers and from books about Cookie Decorating.
What are your top three favourite biscuits to decorate?
In 2014 I was pregnant with my second child and I knew that when my son was born I would have no time anymore for anything else then being there for him. I wanted to learn how to make the perfect Macaron. It took me 3 months, the whole summer On 26th August my little boy was there and I had mastered the art of Macaron Making.
I also very much love making Christmas Cookies and Personalised Birthday Cookies.
What’s your favourite type of flour to work with?
Plain white flour
What are your must have baking tools?
My number one baking tool is my Bosch Mum Kitchen Machine.
It’s professional and still small enough to not take too much space in my Kitchen. It tackles even the heaviest Ginger Bread Dough, can be used for grating potatoes, making Smoothies, we even make the most delicious homemade icecream with it.
What’s been the highlight of your baking career so far?
I still like learning new things every day. At the moment I’m concentrating on making Embellishments out of homemade fondants with Organic flavourings that can be easily incorporated in Cookie Designs.
I also get excited about beautiful sprinkles.
They can jazz up any Biscuit and just bring joy to baking

And finally, what advice would you give to someone who is learning how to decorate biscuits?
Take your time…. Rome hasn’t been built in a day and Cookie Decoration needs a bit of experience.
It looks easy in the little clips I’m featuring every day but you need to know what you are doing.
Don’t give up if it doesn’t turn out perfect the first time. It’s a great skill and you are sure to impress every time you create a Decorated Sugar Cookie.
