Matthews Emmer Flour – ancient wheat full of goodness

Choose from individual or multi-packs of Emmer Flour

Emmer flour is made from ancient wheat first used well over 2000 years ago. Emmer is a very hardy wheat which can withstand drought and pests, making it extremely useful in the modern world. Due to its hardy nature, it takes more care to harvest and craft into flour, but the time and effort is well rewarded.

At Matthews, we stoneground our Emmer flour from 100% of the Emmer berry helping maintain its nutritional profile. This profile is one of easy digestion and a slightly sweet taste. Emmer flour creates bakes that taste sweet but are easy on your gut. No wonder it is becoming so popular in the modern day.

Wholegrain Emmer flour is perfect for creating pasta, sourdough or bread recipes with a little bit of blending. Although not gluten-free, it does have a weaker gluten presence, which means the dough will need to be soft and pliable before baking, not overworked to be super stretchy.

If you are looking for natural healthy flour with a sweet taste that is kind to your gut, then Matthews Emmer Flour is a perfect choice.

You can buy Matthews Wholemeal Emmer Flour individually or in packs of five.
