Savoury Cake With Ham And Cheese
Ingredients
300g Matthews Heritage Barley
250g Butter
10 Eggs
15g Cheddar (Grated)
150g Ham (Large Sliced)
10g Baking Powder
5g Salt
Black pepper or any spice of your choice

Method:
- Preheat the oven to 175°C. Grease a 23 x 12 cm loaf pan. Line the bottom and two long sides of the pan with a piece of parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, seasonings, salt and pepper. Beat the butter in a second bowl and add the egg and continue beating. Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and mix using a spatula just until combined. Fold in cheese and ham. Transfer the dough to the prepared bread pan. Use the spatula to level the surface.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes until the bread rises and turns golden and a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes.
- Slice the bread and reheat at room temperature or in a 150°C oven for 10 minutes before serving.
