Pizza Tasting at The Swan Inn at Ascott-under-Wychwood
To celebrate National Pizza Day (Thursday 9th February 2023), some of the team at Matthews Cotswold Flour decided to visit one of their favourite local pubs The Swan Inn at Ascott-under-Wychwood for an epic pizza tasting session!
Mike, the wonderful pizza chef at the Swan, whipped up 6 delicious pizzas for us to try and the pizzas were rated by each member on a scoreboard out of 10.
The pizzas we rated:
Margherita
Tomato, parmesan, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, basil, oregano.
Hot Pig
Tomato, parmesan, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, basil, oregano, pepperoni, nduja, spicy pepper
Prosciutto di parma
Tomato, parmesan, mozzarella, basil, oregano prosciutto di parma, wild rocket, parmesan flakes, white truffle olive oil.
Figa
Tomato, basil, mozzarella, goats cheese, parmesan, caramelised onions, fresh figs, oregano, extra virgin olive oil.
BBQ Chicken
Mozzarella, chicken, smoked bacon, fresh thyme, parmesan, oregano, BBQ Sauce.
Caprese Burrata
Tomato, basil, parmesan, whole burrata, cherry tomatoes, ground pepper, balsamic glaze, baked pine nuts, oregano, extra virgin olive oil.
They were all so delicious and it was very tight but the Figa with truffle oil just about came out top of the scoreboard with high praise from everyone!
