Aidan Monks, Lovingly Artisan
Aidan Monks is the Founder of the award-winning bakery, Lovingly Artisan, found on the edge of the Lake District. He started his first bakery in Kendal in the late 1980s before being introduced to slow-fermentation breadmaking (a speciality of Lovingly Artisan) by the French baker who sold him his first batch of artisanal flour. Today, those passing through the Lake District make it a staple to visit Lovingly Artisan for their delicious Sourdough bakes.
Adam Cleal, Niche Patisserie
Great Taste Award winner, Niche Patisserie, was founded in 2020 by Adam Cleal, an at-home baker turned extraordinaire. Adam grew Niche Patisserie from a family-run bakery at home to a popular tea room bakery in the heart of Shropshire. Afternoon tea is a staple of theirs, alongside artisan breads and creations. Just like when Adam was baking at home, his neighbours and the people of Shropshire still, to this day, enjoy waking up to the delicious smell of freshly baked breads, croissants, and more.
Sam Wells, Hobbs House Bakery
Hobbs House Bakery has been running for over 100 years, since 1920. Passed down from generation to generation, it was in 1985 when Sam Wells took over the organisation with his parents John and Marjorie. At Hobbs House Bakery, all their bread and confectionery is made by hand with true care and attention. A staple of theirs? Their 72-year old Sourdough Starter which they've been nourishing with flour and water every day to create countless Sourdough loaves.
Kris Biggs, KNEAD Bakery
Having worked at a 5 star and 2 Michelin-star hotel, Kris and his Co-Founder John wanted to bring their expertise and knowledge to the high street. They knew exactly what they wanted to create; KNEAD Bakery. Their bakes have scooped up multiple Great Taste Awards and their success has allowed them to rapidly expand with bakeries in Oxford, Tewkesbury, Tetbury, Elkstone, Cirencester, and their mobile bakery KNEAD on Wheels.
