Matthews Plain Flour – Perfect multi-purpose flour

 Plain flour milled from soft wheat with a protein level of 9.5%

Matthews plain flour is a multi-purpose (all-purpose for the US) flour perfect for baking bread, cookies, biscuits, muffins and pizzas. The plain flour name comes about from the lack of any raising agent within the flour, as would be found in self-raising flour.

Plain flour is a staple of every kitchen. Its versatility will help you bake delicious creations. But all plain flour is not the same. Plain flour comes in different protein levels, usually between 9-11%, has varying textures and tastes and can be created from either hard or soft wheat.

At Matthews, we use a blend of the highest quality soft wheat to create our plain flour. The soft wheat is carefully milled to craft a plain flour that contains 9.5% protein and has a fine consistency for easing baking. Our plain flour range is also incredibly rich in flavour.
